What we’ve done:

History:

Premier Leadership Foundation (PLF), Inc. (formerly known as Premier Leadership Academy) has been in business for over ten years but restructured as a non-profit in December 2014, getting its 501c3 status in 2017. Our board of directors comprises ten professionals with varied experiences including marketing, healthcare, banking, finance, education and government who live throughout the southeastern region of the U.S. PLF began in Huntsville, AL but established a vision to serve all over the world. Although some women and girls taking part in PLF programs are in the Huntsville area, as of 2020, the organization’s principal office is now in Houston, TX.

PLF is a volunteer-led organization. Our Founder, Dr. Kreslyn Kelley-Ellis is an Educator, Author, Consultant, and Entrepreneur. She, being a native of the Huntsville community, having attended Title I schools, and then serving as teacher, curriculum specialist and principal in three different high-poverty schools determined there was more need for external community resources to help the children in the K-12 arena.  She also resolved that there was more that she could do from outside the system than she could do inside, because she would have the freedom to collaborate with many more community-based organizations to serve not just children’s educational needs, but also the needs of the whole child and their families.

Premier Leadership Foundation, Inc. has been responsible for thousands of professional development hours over the past few years, to include strategies for working with and serving people living in impoverished environments, most of it locally, but also in several out-of-state conferences or learning opportunities.  The organization has provided hundreds of hours of one-on-one personal life, job and leadership coaching for women and the underserved and provided leadership and diversity training for 200+ youth living within the Huntsville/Madison County area and served over 1,200 in Uganda (East Africa).

We’ve served more than 900 women and honored over 25 female unsung heroes and given more than $10,000 to women in need in the Huntsville/Madison Co. area. We also partner with other organizations in our community and internationally to provide resources and services.
